Rural heritage:

  • an asset of European regions to safeguard, promote and transmit to young people;
  • a driver for rural development, creator of wealth, business and jobs for all generations;
  • a huge, and still underused, source of grass-roots initiatives for young people.

A driver for civic engagement and personal development for young people in rural Europe

The YCARHE Project offers youth and heritage conservation organisations working in rural areas tools and resources to encourage and assist individual or collective initiatives by young Europeans supporting their local heritage.

Complementary activities to foster the involvement of young people in support of rural heritage:

  • a capacity building training tool for those working with young people and heritage in rural areas to make rural heritage a theme for activities run by youth organisations
  • free and easy-to-access online resources supporting individual or collective activities by young people;
  • mobility component for young Europeans, with 3 ‘test’ training workshops in Bulgaria, Croatia and France, to relate the resources to the territorial needs and potential.
